Favourites of 2012

I love reflecting back on my creations for the year, pulling out my favourites and giving them another spin :-).

I think my favourite techniques/products this year were:
 - Pennant shapes.  Just. Can't. Stop. Cutting everything into PENNANTS LOL!!!
- Clustering.  Things don't look 'right' unless they are clustered.
- Flowers - I don't think there's a page without at least one...
- I seem to favour white cardstock backgrounds too ... love them :-)
- Matting the whole page with a contrast colour - many of my pages featured this.

So, here are a few of my favourite pages ... in no particular order ...

LOVE non-traditional Christmas colours like this one ...

and this one:

Love this pic of my little man:
(found a use for some really OLD thickers too!)

Bright colours on white backgrounds:

Clustered flowers ... and double page matting ...

One of my favourite paper ranges for the year ... Carta Bella ...
Love the pop of black:

A boy page from a girly paper range (Crate Paper Pretty Party)

Oh to be on holidays:

Trying something different ;-) :

The Amazing Race catch up

Scrapbooking Top 50 had a big competition recently called Scrapbooking Top 50 Amazing RaceRainbow Splendour was one of the kit contributors and also sponsored one of the many challenges.  I enjoyed playing along with all the different stops along the Amazing Race, which took as all around the world with some detours and road blocks along the way.

Here are some of my favourite pages I created for this massive competition... there was more, but I won't overload the post with photos :-)

From memory, this challenge was to include an envelope.  I used some last bits and pieces of a Scrapz kit ... just LOVED this kit!!

Monochromatic!!  Don't do this very often :-)....  had some fun with washi tape:

This one was a bit 'random':
(More Lil Red Rocket buttons there)

Using words of a song:

And there's one more, it's up on the Rainbow Splendour blog HERE ... I'd love for you to pop over and have a look :-)

Here's a little sneak:

Here are the last of my pages for the Scrapz Super Sleuth competition (it was such a fun challenge - see all the details in THIS POST):

Challenge #04

And the 5 common items were:
- the word 'smile'
- hexagons
- cloud/s
- 3 different alphas
- a border at the top and the bottom of the page

I've actually used a My Mind's Eye Christmas range for this page :-)

5th and final challenge:

The 5 common items were:
- upside down photo
- the word 'fun'
- leaves
- a bird
- an arrow

The upside down pic was tricky!!  Lucky I had this one in my stash waiting to be scrapped :-)

Not sure I will fit in much more scrapping between now and Christmas, but I do have more pages to share that I hope I can squeeze in a post soon :-) :-)

Super Sleuth

Recently, Scrapz.Biz had a competition called "Scrapbook Super Sleuth". (They have the BEST comps ... seriously). It was a competition with a difference. Each challenge had a sketch and the criteria was to find FIVE common items on the DT pages and use these on a page. It was tricky. It got people thinking ... but it was so much fun!!!

I'll share a couple of my pages with you today.

This was the first sketch:

And my page:

So, here's my DOD#07 page
Summer feet:

Just LOVE the Prima Resist Canvas shapes - they will be on a lot of pages to come :-)

After I painted these flourishes with mist, I added a bit of sparkle with some Sparkle Mod Podge.  Love that stuff!!  LOL

Now that summer is well and truly here again, I hope we can get to the beach for another family holiday :-).  Do you like to go to the beach in the summer time??

{Un} tucked

I have a little boy
Whose little check shirts
Never stay tucked in.

{photo by LaBelle Photographics}

I've created this page for the Kraft It Up challenge for this month - negative space/minimalist.  While I do often use negative space on my pages, I don't often go for the minimalist look ... although, I guess my pages aren't cluttered either.  I'm usually somewhere in the middle!  LOL

Just love the Greatest View "typical" badge - very appropriate for this page ;-).

Thanks for visiting!

Different kinds of babies.

Did you know there were different kinds of babies?  Well, there are.

The other day, Miss 6 asked me, "What kind of baby was I, Mum?"

I was a little confused, but answered with the general kind of baby description, "tiny, cute, with little fingers and sweet little toes and a squished up nose".

That wasn't what she was asking at all ... No ... "What KIND of baby, Mum, you know, was I a summer baby or a winter baby or spring or autumn??

Well, that explained it :-).  She was born in the spring and her arrival herald the beginning of our little family :-).  We were no longer just a couple, we were a family.

The word over at Bird Is The Word recently was Spring/Summer/Winter/Fall ... so I just had to record this little conversation :-)

Can you spy the cute little triangle badge by Greatest View in there?  Totally loving her goodies at the moment ... I've used heaps lately :-) ...  The twine on this page is from there as well :-).

So, what kind of baby were you?

PS.  Thanks for visiting, hope you are having a great week!

Playing catch up

I've still got a pile of layouts here I haven't shared, so I must keep blogging them :-).  Time flies by so fast these days, I'm sure the clocks are speeding up.

This is number 4 and 5 of our Do Or Die competition over at Scrapz.   The whole comp was so much fun!   I certainly had to put my thinking cap on ;-).

Notes for Mum

Hidden journaling or hidden elements in general is not something I do much in scrapping.   This Do or Die challenge over at Scrapz called for 'something hidden' ...

And I had this sweet envelope ....

So I tucked in some cards, notes and drawings from my kids :-)
I've always wanted to include something like this on a page! Just needed the prompting

I used the gorgeous Crate Paper Pretty Party range for this page :-) Just love these colours :-)

Now, don't forget the new competition starting next week:

Find out all the details HERE!!!

Thanks for visiting and have a great week :-)
