Sorting and tidying ...

I have had a massive overhaul of all things scrappy in this house. I think it's good to be reminded that scrapping does not have first place here in this family!! :-) It's so easy to get caught up in the creative moment, but yes, my family does come first :-) :-). You've probably noticed that I am now only on 2 DT's - Scrapz.Biz and Lil' Red Rocket. I resigned from Bird is the Word a couple of weeks ago. It was a difficult decision, and I really loved being on the DT there - but my life is taking a different turn, and I love the fact I can concentrate on these two absolutely wonderful teams and I know I can give them both 100%.

Anyway, back to the sorting and tidying ...

The Scrapz.Biz Biggest Loser competition has been going since the start of the year and it has been FABULOUS for organising tips and challenges to use up the stash! My table certainly looks far tidier, things actually have a place to live, and I organised lots of bags I've had lying around. To be honest, I think I've got just as many bags, maybe everything has just been reshuffled :-) LOL.

There is now a space BIGGER than a 12x12 page on my table :-). DH says the table probably needs sunscreen since it hasn't seen the light of day before ... I'm not convinced :-)

So ... here's one of the last pages I created for the button challenge at Scrapz.

You can probably read the journaling there - I got an order to make 12 OTP handbag desk tidies ... lets just say that by the time I was finished, I really didn't want to see another handbag for at least a year LOL.

I have finally found a bit of mojo :-) after spending so much of my creative time catching up with my 52 week album, I am enjoying scrapping 12x12 again :-) :-). Daily challenges are BACK at Scrapz now so I am busy creating for them :-). I am loving this range ...

Scrapz Biggest Loser

... is in full swing!!

It's been perfect for me to organise and sort through my scrap stash. I don't have a lot of room for it, and to be honest, I'm so sick of how it looks so messy all the time. So sick of how it makes the HOUSE look so messy all the time!!

There have been lots of challenges to play along with - it all helps to use up that old stash that's been sitting for ages.

Here's a page and a card I created entirely from scraps

even the bits of ribbon were the last bits!

Super simple stuff - not much mojo happening around here.

Lots of exciting LRR news :-) Firstly, there is a SALE!!

Here's the info:

If you would like to join our design team please follow these instructions below to complete your application.
Unfortunately due to postage prices I can only except applicants from Australia.
This design team call is open to scrapbookers, card markers and mixed media artists.

All applicants must have a blog and be able to commit to a 6 month term.
You will be required to post 1-2 pages a month on the Lil' Red Rocket blog and also post about and plug LRR on your blog and Facebook when ever possible.
Other requirements may include completing a sketch challenge from time to time.

The successful applicant will receive enough free product to complete all projects required for their term plus extra and team discount on any purchases.

All you need to do is send us an email to lilredrocket@live.com.au with a link to your blog and tell us a little about yourself and your style.
Please include links to your 2 favourite projects on your blog.

Applications close midnight 23rd January. The new DT member will be announced here on the blog and on Facebook at the end of January and will start in February.

Revisiting 2011

Before I begin scrapping this year (yep - no scrapping happening here yet!!) I thought I would revisit last year and pick out some favourites. They may not be the best, but for whatever reason, I like them :-)

Base jumping ...

There's a new challenge over at Scrapz.Biz and it's called Base Jumping ... sounds quite extreme hey :-). It's really fun and has proved really popular with the forum scrappers :-) How it works - we provide a 'base' from which everyone begins, and then everyone adds photos, embellishments and more paper as desired.

This was my first time at setting a 'base jump' challenge:

I've used Crate Paper Farmhouse range for this page ... with some other bits and pieces too :-)

It's so interesting to see how others build on the base that's provided :-).

Well, I haven't had much to share lately because I haven't scrapped for over a month now. I'm hoping that now my sale is finished and Christmas pressies have all been made etc etc ... I might find some time and some mojo ;-)

Recently, we had a family photo shoot done with our favourite photographer LaBelle Photographics. As always, I am super impressed with the end result - I love them all :-). We all had so much fun on the day - the kids just loved the balloons!

Here's a peek ... I'm sure the pics will pop up on some pages before too long :-)

I think I need to get family photos done more regularly - kids just grow too fast. How often does everyone else get pics taken?

Encounters with the farm animals

Last week, my challenge at Scrapz.Biz was a sketch -

The theme was "Encounters with the Wild" so I scrapped about the kids meeting animals on the farm. OK, so chooks aren't exactly 'wild' but they aren't that tame either! LOL

How perfect is that Jillibean Soup pp for the background?! All the rest of the papers are a mix of Crate Paper Farmhouse and Random.

There is still time to play along - all the November challenges are due on 30th November. And every challenge entry goes in the draw for store vouchers at the end of the month :-) :-)

BITW - Trust

The new word at Bird Is the Word is TRUST. There was lots of ways I could have gone with this. In fact, I ended up leaving it till nearly last minute because I just couldn't decide!!
I decided to go the light hearted approach ... and scrap about this typical two year old impulsive belly showing - in the middle of trying to get a nice family photo :-) LOL.

I've used a Rainbow Splendour map pinwheel and a cabochon and sweet lollipop made by Leanne :-) :-) ...

CHRISTMAS!!!

We had a photo shoot with LaBelle Photographics recently. It was one of the best shoots we've had! The kids were {quite} well behaved and willing ... and we did lots of fun stuff :-). Linley does such a fantastic job, I am ALWAYS super happy with her photos :-). I want to share a few here with you ... it's been a difficult job choosing, but here's a little sneak of our shoot:

Would you believe, I haven't scrapped all month!! I can hardly believe it myself, but between one thing and another, it just hasn't happened.

Birthday Boy

Bird Is the Word - WISH

Scrap the Girls

I found myself searching for a challenge to do the other day and came across the Scrap The Girls challenge for October - distressing and use the word "love".
So, I distressed all the strips of pp in the heart and came up with this:

It's a little bit different for me and I still think it needs ... 'something' .... but I'm so over fiddling with it LOL!

Oh have I got exciting news!!!!

I am so honoured to announce I have a spot on the Design Team over at Scrapz.Biz!!! Scrapz.Biz in an online store based in Toowoomba, Queensland. A Birthday mini

Another challenge at the Scrapz Biz Virtual Crop was to make a mini album to store birthday cards. I totally loved this idea, as we have cards floating all over the place so what a perfect way to keep them together!

I made this one for my DD's recent birthday ...

It's a super simple idea, making two covers, front and back, and punching holes in the cards and binding everything together. I didn't have any rings, so I just used some coloured twine/string.

I couldn't bring myself to punch holes in the handmade cards my DD received, so I made a pocket at the front to pop them in instead :-)

Well, first up, I should let you know my term at Handmade by Suzanne finished last month. I loved every single second of this DT - and as corny as it sounds, I really did grow creatively and stepped out of my comfort zone more than once! LOL. It seems Suzanne got to know me very well, and keeps me updated on when the latest Echo Park ranges come in ... :-) thanks Suzanne!! I managed to get my hands on this yummy range ...

I must say - this is my favourite one to date. I love that there are florals/girly papers and more boyish ones. Perfect for me!!

I've been playing along with the virtual crop at Scrapz Biz ... it was birthday themed so perfect for me as we have LOTS of birthdays around this time of year :-)

First up was the sketch challenge:

I LOVE the yellow/pink combo ...

And I LOVE my new doily and rolled rose dies :-)

Next, I joined in with the virtual class - so much fun!! I've ended up with a page a bit different to my normal style ... but fun just the same :-) :-)

BITW - Memory

The current challenge word at Bird is the Word is MEMORY (or variation of the word, like memories). Your challenge is to use this word in a title or as journaling on your page. We are getting so many people playing along and we just love looking through each gorgeous entry!!!

I made a card this time ... for my bro and sis-in-law who are moving to a new house :-) ... I wanted to wish them happy memories in their new place :-)

It's a boy!

Just recently, my good friend had a baby boy. Perfect timing ... since I had the Fancy Pants Baby Mine range to play with this month!!

So ... I made this nappy wreath ... so much fun and certainly useful :-) (and looked really different beside all the bunches of flowers ... LOL)

I am loving scrapping all the gorgeous photos from our recent photoshoot with LaBelle Photographics :-). I used some last bits and pieces from my HBS DT pack of Fancy Pants Baby Mine on this page which was created for Sue's challenge over at Scrapbooking Top 50 Cybercrop

see that cute little boy?? He turns 2 today ... my baby is two!!!

You'll see some of my Rainbow Splendour pinwheels (spotty green one and a brown book paper one), and a couple of handmade flags too.

And this is a new purchase .... a flower die!! It's a My Favourite Things Die-namic rolled rose. You can tell they have been hugely popular because they are sold out!!! But, Suzanne may just get them back in ... you never know ;-). I made this one out of vintage music paper :-)

I was so inspired by this cute layout, I decided to play along with the challenge at Scrap Jack :-). I have some sweet pics of the Little Mister kissing his big sister from our last photoshoot with LaBelle Photographics that were perfect for this :-)

So, this is what I came up with:

Using more Fancy Pants Baby Mine range of papers, chipboard and filter papers embellishments - I have even used the button tool and the filter papers to make a button!!! It worked perfectly :-). I've layered it with a chipboard button on top.

I've also used a Crafter's Workshop template, a Shabby Chic Crafts tag, some seam binding, and the alphas are Sassafrass Lass.

I have really loved this Fancy Pants range - so versatile, especially the "B" sides of the papers.

This might be a strange choice for a favourite song, but it's one I have sung to my babies from day one. During many long night time hours spent rocking them when they were sick (or grumpy or teething etc etc LOL) ...
on many long car journeys ...

This following pic is a bit dark for some reason (???) ... but you can see the flag from Greatest View ...

I just loved the colour combo choice over at Scrapbooking Top 50 ... I HAD to play along :-) :-). The choices were blue/yellow or pink/green - of course, I chose the latter :-).

I have used more Fancy Pants Baby Mine pp's and filter papers (scrunched up under the pinwheels). These filter paper embellishments are SO awesome! They are so versatile and fun to use.

Another month, another gorgeous Handmade by Suzanne sketch by Shell :-) ....

I have the sweet Fancy Pants Baby Mine range to play with this month - and it's not all about babies! The "B" sides are all very useful for non-baby themed pages :-). Here's my baby ... sitting up there amongst the big stuffed animals :-)

The DT each got a button making tool in their kit this month - what fun!! I can't get over how easy they are to make! This one is covered in some fabric ...

You'll also notice some some Shabby Chic crafts tags, some seam binding, some twine ...

and a Martha Stewart tag tucked in there too :-)

I am absolutely OVERWHELMED by the response I've had to my new little adventure in the creative world!!! Thank you everyone who took the time to visit and comment on my first lot of sneaks, I was encouraged by your comments and cannot thank you all enough :-) :-) ...

I have LOTS of ideas up my sleeve ... most will be revealed at the market ;-) (so come along and see hehehe) but, here's another colour combo ....

Guest Designing at ...

Once Upon A ... Sketch this month as part of the Pretty Paper Petals DT! So exciting to be part of this fabulous team even for a fleeting moment :-). I love the sketches and the journaling prompts ... it's such a fun and inspiring way to get your story on the page :-)

So, the challenge this time is:

Journalling Criteria: Finish this line "A PERFECT DAY IS....." . Your journalling has to be at least 2 lines long, and with the theme of a whatever a perfect day for you is or a perfect day that you have had already e.g. a birthday, a holiday, a childhood memory, a wedding day, graduation day etc. Your journalling can be ANY type : handwritten, typed, etc...

You MUST combine our journalling criteria with this sketch...

Another fortnight, another word over at Bird is the Word. This time it's DREAM ...

I couldn't resist this sweet pic of my friends sleeping baby - isn't she just gorgeous??

I used some bits and pieces from Kaisercraft Pink Gelato range (available HERE at Handmade by Suzanne) .... and hiding in there are some cabochons and a crystal rose cameo from Clouds and More (FAB etsy store!!!)

Oh yes, there is a gorgeous inspirational sketch to use too, if you like :-) I didn't use it this time ... but it is a lovely sketch...

Savvy sketch challenge

I love a good sketch ... this one was a little different so thought I'd have a go :-). I have used another old but precious photo ... my Grandad and my DD ...

I have used the You're Savvy kit for this page ... as well as a few added extras...

Not much crafting happening here lately. Sick kids. Need I say more! LOL. Can't wait for spring!!!

A special moment

I love this photo of my Grandma holding my DD (when she was just a bub). I haven't had photos printed for ages, so went searching through some old ones for inspiration. The colours matched perfectly with some left over Kaisercraft Pink Gelato I have here from my DT kit from Handmade by Suzanne.

I have used these coloured doilies often and lots of people have asked if I buy them like that or if I mist/colour them. Well, I actually buy them like this! From a craft shop (not scrapbooking shop - so don't think they are acid free). The pack has heaps of different colours and they are quite fun :-)

You might notice, this page is rather like the sketch for this month!! Unintenionally!! But it is an awesome sketch :-) :-)

I just love Lil Red Rocket bottletops! Here is a page I created recently using a transport one:

This is my cute little nephew - all excited about his birthday :-) ... how awesome is that cake!!! :-)

The lollipop on the pin is from Clouds and More ... I made the denim lollipop flower. The bookpaper banner is from Greatest View. The red scroll felt is cut from a placemat! I was waiting for the 'right' page to use some on :-)

Today:

When I first started scrapping, I scrapped all my wedding photos. Just recently, I've had a few printed off again so I can have a bit more play :-). Loving the Echo Park Be Mine collection - it's so perfect for my wedding pics - our wedding colours were pink (magenta actually) and silver :-) :-). You might see a few more wedding pages soon ... just sayin. ;-)

See the sweet little crystal rose cameo and lots of cabochons - these are all from Clouds and More (a fav store!!!)

Hiding under the butterfly is a little doily from another fav store Greatest View :-) ...

LaBelle Photoshoot

Reccently, we had a photoshoot with our favourite photographer LaBelle Photographics. The kids had so much fun ... her studio is loaded with toys and fun props - even lollipops! :-) And, same as always, the end result is lots and lots of gorgeous photos ... so difficult to chose which ones to share, but i'm sure you will see many more on future pages ;-) I just love each and every one!!!

So ... here's a little peek ...

I must mention, my kids don't get very many lollies - in fact, the little Mister is so 'deprived', he has never had a lollipop in his life (Miss B has had one or 2). So .... to begin with, he was like ... 'what's this???'

Just quietly, this little Mister went a little hyper ... maybe it was the red colouring??? He really put on a show anyway ... lots of funny shots like this:

Now I just have to choose a pic for a new blog header :-)

Here is another project using the Kaisercraft Pink Gelato range - my DT kit from Handmade by Suzanne this month ... isn't this just the sweetest photo? It's my friend's baby girl again :-) :-) Aren't I lucky to scrap such precious pics :-) :-)

I've made a banner effect out of the journal tags. There is a Prima flower and doily and a Kaisercraft paper bloom.

The cabochons are from here - they are just the best :-)

Scraptivations Challenge 7

This time, we have a colour challenge for you at Scraptivations.

Split-Complementary color scheme
The split-complementary color scheme is a variation of the complementary color scheme. In addition to the base color, it uses the two colors adjacent to its complement. This color scheme has the same strong visual contrast as the complementary color scheme, but has less tension. The split-complimentary color scheme is often a good choice for beginners, because it is difficult to mess up.

Savvy Manufacturer challenge

Over at Savvy, they have started a manufacturer challenge with an added criteria of a different technique each month.

This one was from last month. The manufacturer was My Mind's Eye and the technique was background ink/paint. (I stamped on my background with ink.)

This month was Little Yellow Bicycle ... and the technique was stencilling ...

{Just look at his curls!!! All gone now ... well mostly anyway ... he had a haircut yesterday :-) :-)}

I've used lots of extra yummy embellies on this one....
The white star doily tucked in there is Lil Red Rocket...
There is a blue polymer button that is Pretty Paper Petals
The denim music note is from a swap ...
And, the music flag
and the bunting and owl badge are from Greatest View

Scrap the boys

Generally, I'm not one for colour challenges ... they usually cause me to push paper this way and that, tear my hair out, and eventually, I give up altogether. So, Scrap the Boys has a colour challenge this month .. and you know what? It wasn't even the slighest bit difficult, I just had to use my Echo Park Splash kit .... all the colours were there! So easy for the colour-challenged me!!!! :-)

I've created some projects that don't even have a drop of water ...

The colours in this range are really, so very perfect for little boys :-)

A brown button from Pretty Paper Petals ... the denim car I received in a swap ... the red cabochon is from HERE (fab etsy store) ...

Lots of the word/phrase stickers didn't relate to water - so these were perfect :-)

Lil' Red Rocket

Just love these sweet little Lil' Red Rocket buttons ...

I used one on this page of some Easter pics. This dairy-free Easter bunny was VERY special :-).

The perfect bunny:

My DD has lots of food allergies. She is used to not eating what other people eat and often asks if she's 'allowed' to eat certain things. So, a dairy-free Easter bunny turning up on Easter morning was a HUGE surprise! I wonder how the Easter bunny knew??? LOL

Time for some Scrapbook Bingo over at Scraptivations! Challenge #6:

Much like the traditional game, you will need to get all the squares in a row, whether that be horizontal, vertical, or diagonal. For this game though, you need to include the 4 items in the row on your layout or other project. (But other things can be added to your layout as well.) The fun of this challenge is you don't have to be the first one to yell "BINGO!" everyone is a 'bingo" winner in the game of Srapbook Bingo!

I chose the second horizontal line: Banner, season, tag, and 3 pp's.

These are the last of my Tidbitz in Time creations from the June kit. It's been fabulous and I thank Wendy for having me as Guest Designer this month :-)
